Batman v Superman

What Went Wrong with Batman v Superman

With the Justice League movie currently in production, all that is left for us to do is wait. We could spend our time reacting to the latest Batman and DC News (which is coming out at a seriously alarming pace). Or we could re-watch another movie that is directed by Zack Snyder which features Batman and Superman. Yes its Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. A really good movie that might not have been too good?! Yes, it is confusing, but I have found a video explaining some major flaws of that movie and it is something that you would have noticed, but never realized.

Batman v Superman: The Fundamental Flaw

The trailer for the Justice League movie provides us with a lighter tone as compared to Batman v Superman. Making a less serious and light-hearted Justice League movie isn’t going to fix the problem behind Batman v Superman. The problem being that the movie is filled with “moments” instead of “scenes”.

Zack Snyder is the master of creating moments. He is the master of bringing the visuals that we see on the pages of comic books to life. He has successfully done this with 300 and Watchmen. Batman v Superman also has a lot of familiar visuals that are straight out of the comics. Like Batman’s armored suit, Superman catching a Kryptonite bullet that explodes in his face. As a kid, I owned a Superman comic which had Doomsday on the cover holding Superman in his hand as if he was a toy or action figure. That exact image is in Batman v Superman.

I Loved Batman V Superman. But…

I loved Batman v Superman for this very reason. It brought a lot of high-quality comic book sequences to life. Same goes for my other favorite Zack Snyder movies. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing. But with so many of these moments in the movie, I cant actually tell you which was my favorite. But this is also very deceptive because I love the visuals in Batman v Superman so much that I automatically think that this is a good movie, but it’s not. There are too many problems with this movie. You have to overlook a lot of things in order to be satisfied with this movie. And when this is the case, then it usually isn’t a good movie. An ok movie at best.

Hopefully, Justice league and the rest of the DC movies will give us what we want. So we don’t have to keep analyzing their movies almost a year later!
